Jesus said, “If another member of the church[a] sins against you,[b] go and point out the fault when the two of you are alone. If the member listens to you, you have regained that one.” (Matthew 18:15)
There is enough in this simple sentence of Jesus to change the world.
More things go wrong because people don’t heed this piece of advice. Little things get bigger and healing gets to be harder and harder.
Jesus is clear: if something that someone did really bothers you – stop grumbling to other people, stop posting about it on Facebook, and go talk to them. It is easier to whine elsewhere. But it is almost always destructive.
Where people interact, things go wrong. Where they operate out of grace and forgiveness, these things can be repaired. So,…..
Forgiveness does not change the past. But it can create a different future.
